In the U.S., stable food access is often difficult for low-income families that struggle to balance the need for food with other basic necessities. Poverty is often the barrier to kids getting fed. So, let’s talk a little bit about the numbers happening right now in America:

13 million children lived in poverty in 2017 according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

In 2018, 14.3 million American households were food insecure with limited or uncertain access to enough food.

22 million children in the United States rely on the free or reduced-price lunch they receive at school, and every one of them is eligible for free breakfast as well. But as many as 3 million children aren't getting the breakfast they need because of the way it's served in schools.

6 out of 7 hungry kids don't get the summer meals they need.

20 million children in the United States rely on SNAP Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for low-income families.

Who’s going hungry? Everyone: kids, seniors, ill, working poor, high-risk groups.
